Training
We are pleased to provide information regarding SWANA’s high-quality industry courses and webinars. SWANA educational programs are designed to help industry professionals gain practical tools, information, and strategies for improving their on-the-job performance. All courses offer continuing education credit toward recertification renewal.
OnDemand Courses
the six most popular onDemand Courses can be used as stand-alone educational experiences or for certification prep. They are available in three ways:
- 100% Self-Study – Students receive hours of recordings for immediate consumption, plus the printed version of the course manual, and 30 continuing education credits
- Hybrid Learning Event – Students receive the course recordings, then come together with SWANA-certified instructors to debrief the lessons via live, virtual, 1.25-hour meetings two times a week for 4-5 weeks. The instructor-led debriefings help students ingrain the lessons they’ve learned, consider how to apply those lessons to their everyday work life, and build connections amongst themselves and with the instructors to enhance networking opportunities beyond the classroom. The debriefings are supplemented by a special online community forum established just for the class that allows students to connect between the debriefings with each other and the instructor(s). Participants earn 30 continuing education credits. The next two hybrid learning events are scheduled for February and June 2021.
- In-Person Learning Events – SWANA brings nationally recognized certified faculty instructors directly to your location of choice to teach the class in person. This cost-effective Training@Work option allows for greater flexibility and less downtime. The course is delivered over three days and participants earn 30 continuing education credits. This will be an ideal learning environment for these courses and will be offered once in-person meetings are possible again.

- Manager of Landfill Operations
- Managing Composting Programs
- Managing Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems
- Managing Municipal Solid Waste Collection Systems
